At the edge of the Vasi plan we find the end of the Terme, specifically where the Aqua Traiana brought water into the Eternal City via the impressive network of Roman aqueducts. The importance of the waters is underscored by the monument that marks their entrance into the city, financed by, and dedicated to, Pope Paul V. The image mirrors that of St. Peter's Basilica on the left of the grand plan, also financed and finished under Pope Paul V's watch.
